Newborn Hearing Screening and Diagnostic Audiology Facilities

Most hospitals and birthing facilities in Oregon provide hearing screenings after birth and before discharge. If your baby missed or did not pass their initial newborn hearing screening test and is less than 30 days old, they can usually be screened or rescreened at their birth facility. Contact your child’s birth facility to inquire about appointments or use the list below to schedule a screening or a rescreening.

If your baby was born at home in the presence of a midwife or trained birth attendant, they may have screening equipment to test a child’s hearing. Contact your child’s birth attendant to inquire about a screening or rescreening.
Additionally, some pediatrician offices may have screening equipment. If a baby does not receive a hearing screening, parents and caregivers can reach out to their baby’s medical team to inquire about receiving one and/or use the list below to find a facility near you.
